POLK COUNTY, FL (Apr. 5, 2017) – Runners and walkers save $5 and are guaranteed a dri-fit style t-shirt by registering for the 2017 Carillon Classic 5K Run & Walk on or before Sunday, April 9. The event will be on Saturday, April 29 at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, FL.
The early registration fee is $25 through Sunday, April 9 and includes a one-day pass to Bok Tower Gardens on race day for runners/walkers and members of their families. Runners can register at the Fitniche website at fitniche.com/events/ or the Athlink website at . The fee increases by $5 and the t-shirt cannot be guaranteed for those who register between April 10 and 6:30 am on the day of the race.
Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, the top masters male and female, and the top grand masters male and female. The top three finishers in the following male and female age groups also will take home awards: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & older.
Now in its sixth year, the Carillon Classic is being sponsored by Polk County Tourism & Sports Marketing for the benefit of Bok Tower Gardens’ Share the Gift Fund. This fund was launched in 2008 to help people enrich their Gardens experience.
The Carillon Classic 5K Run & Walk was established in 2012 and managed up until this year by the Dick Pope/Polk County Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association. The first five Carillon Classics drew a combined total of nearly 2,000 runners and walkers, raising more than $20,000 for charity.
