The LIFE & LEGACY program boosts endowment-building at 11 area organizations
Eleven Sarasota-Manatee area Jewish organizations will get the support they need building endowments, thanks to this newly launched program.
(Sarasota-Manatee) Legacy giving starts with a conversation and the results often last a lifetime. Starting this month, 11 Sarasota-Manatee area Jewish organizations will get the support they need building endowments, thanks to the newly launched LIFE & LEGACY™ program.
The Sarasota-Manatee LIFE & LEGACY™ program, which joins similar efforts in more than 40 cities around the country, is a four-year partnership program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation and managed by The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee. Through the program, lay leaders and staff from a cross-section of synagogues, social service agencies, and day schools will receive the appropriate training, support and monetary incentives to start conversations, secure legacy gifts, steward donors and integrate legacy giving into the philanthropic culture of the Jewish community.
More than 50 representatives from all local Jewish organizations joined the kick-off informational session in November and 11 agencies made the commitment to join the initiative with a formal application to become a LIFE & LEGACY partner. Applications were reviewed by a selection committee and the groups chosen are: The Jewish Housing Council Foundation, The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee, Chabad Lubavitch of Sarasota-Manatee, Chabad of Venice, Chabad of Bradenton & Lakewood Ranch, Jewish Family & Children’s Services of the Suncoast, Temple Beth Israel, Temple Beth Sholom, Temple Emanu-El, Temple Sinai and Hershorin Schiff Community Day School.
“From a community-building prospective, it does not get any better than this,” says Howard Tevlowitz, executive director of The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee. “The time is right. This legacy program will make the most of the generational transfer of wealth, change the language and landscape of giving and provide generous and forward-thinking members of the Sarasota-Manatee community with the opportunity to express their passion, purpose and commitment to their most valued Jewish organizations.”
To lead this initiative and serve as the liaison between the community and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, Gisele Pintchuck has been appointed the local LIFE & LEGACY director. Pintchuck is no stranger to the Jewish community or to the non-profit world. She has lived in Sarasota for 29 years; for 22 of those years she’s worked in the non-profit sector. Pintchuck mostly recently served as the executive director of Animal Rescue Coalition and brings a strong and diverse background in fund development and planned giving.
“This program is a game-changer,” said Pintchuck. “It has all the elements to make legacy giving achievable by all groups no matter how big or small their development structure is. In addition, it provides the perfect atmosphere for all Jewish organizations to work together towards one common goal: building for the future. That alone is priceless.”
