Residents of DiVosta Homes’ Winding Cypress Community Saw a Different Kind of Green on St. Patrick’s Day

March 23, 2017 by Post

NAPLES – Instead of wearing green or imbibing in beverages of a similar hue, residents of DiVosta’s Winding Cypress Community off Collier Boulevard, just north of US-41, observed St. Patrick’s Day with “The planting of the green.”

Friday March 17 marked the organization of the Winding Cypress Garden Club and the official opening of the Winding Cypress’ Community Garden, a 16-bed, raised planter garden along Winding Cypress Drive at Linear Park according to Scott Brooks, Director of the Department of Real Estate and Homeowner Associations.

“The Community Garden is a first for us and we were very excited to get started because of the keen interest on the part of our residents,” Brooks said. “Because nearly two thirds of Winding Cypress is natural preserve, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that a natural gas, resort-style community would start an innovative, nature-based program like this.”

The initiative was coordinated by DiVosta’s Pat Butler, Land Manager.  To ensure the success of this latest lifestyle program within Winding Cypress, DiVosta enlisted the help of their partner company Florida Edible Landscaping [FEL] which is led by owner Erica Klopf.

On St. Patrick’s Day, with assistance from Klopf and her staff, approximately 16 residents learned the ins and outs of planter-style gardening as they successfully prepped and planted everything from edible flowers, fruits and vegetables to a variety of spices, Brooks said.

The gardeners, who will meet in workshops every other Friday, will work alongside Klopf for the next four months to nurture the plants as they grow and eventually produce edible fruits and vegetables, he said.

Winding Cypress offers two to five-bedroom attached villas and single-family homes with tile roofs, flex rooms, covered lanais, and lush landscaping. They range in size from 1,542 square feet of living area to more than 2,500 square feet and are priced from $275,990 to $449,990.  The 1,100-acre community features 80 acres of lakes and more than 800 acres of nature preserve.

The amenity center at Winding Cypress includes a heated resort-style swimming pool and spa, outdoor barefoot bar and fire pit, bocce ball courts, tennis courts and pickleball courts.   A 13,000 square foot community clubhouse features a multi-purpose activity room, library, WiFi café and lounge, state-of-the-art fitness center and movement studio.
