Brooksville, Florida (March 17, 2017) – The Brooksville Main Street program in collaboration with the Brooksville Cycling Classic is transforming this year’s annual event beyond its traditional slate of races into a wide-ranging community riding and fitness event designed to provide recreational opportunities, advanced health, and promote city business. The event will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017, from 9 am to 4 pm.
The Brooksville Cycling Classic will stage its usual series of downtown criterium races, with a couple of crucial changes. The start of the day’s feature event, the 70 minute pro1-2 race, has been bumped up from the end of the schedule to the more spectator-friendly start time of 1 pm. It has also been added to a national race series that has bumped the prize money to $3,000 ensuring a field of top flight riders.
These riders will perform in front of a crowd that has gathered for the Brooksville Main Street Fitness Festival, which will include a Fitness Expo and three touring rides, all designed to bring cyclists and visitors downtown in time for lunch and shopping before the race.
The events are as follows:

The two longer rides will depart from the parking lot of the Hernando County Government Center at 8 am and follow a police escort north on Broad Street before turning right on E. Jefferson Street and then east on the Good Neighbor Trail. Sag stops, goody bag and map of city businesses ready to cater to hungry cyclists.
