Ringling College Lifelong Learning Academy takes lifelong learning beyond the classroom in this nine-day excursion to Seattle, Portland and San Francisco.
(Sarasota-Manatee) Ringling College Lifelong Learning Academy’s popular “Academy Adventures,” a travel education program, takes participants on in-depth explorations of the history, art, architecture and culture of different regions through the United States and the world. Its “Pacific Coast Adventure” is August 17-25, 2017. Karen Jutras, Florida district sales manager for Premier World Discoveries, will discuss the itinerary and answer questions about the trip during a free information session, Thursday, April 6, 2:30 p.m., at Temple Beth Sholom, 1050 S. Tuttle Ave., Sarasota. To RSVP, call 941-309-5111. For additional information on Ringling College Lifelong Learning Academy, visit www.rclla.org or call 941-309-5111.
According to Janna Overstreet, executive director of Ringling College Lifelong Learning Academy, the academy launched this travel series in 2015 because “studies show that activities associated with educational travel have positive mental, physical, and social benefits for older adults. This program was a logical next step for us.” She says that highlights of this trip include exploring Seattle, Portland and San Francisco with experienced insiders, visiting Crater Lake and Redwood National Parks, and touring Oregon’s Pacific Coast and the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area for a tour of the 250-feet tall sand dunes.
“As always, our Academy Adventures offer a creative mix of exploration, learning and 100 percent pure fun,” says Overstreet. She encourages interested lifelong learners to visit to register early because, “these trips always fill up fast!”
