THE STUDIO@620
620 First Ave. S, St. Petersburg
This unique Shakespearean event celebrates the legacy of Shakespeare and honors the legendary 1936 Orson Welles’ production created in Harlem with an all African American cast. The Studio@620 is building upon these elements and creating a unique updated production that will premiere Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 7 PM.
This grand effort will include an original art installation by muralist Ya La Ford. The cast includes magnificent talent including Erica Sutherlin as Lady Macbeth, Calvin M. Thompson in the leading roll, and Sharon Scott as Hecate. (Calvin recently appeared in American Stage’s final August Wilson work, “Joe Turners Come and Gone”.) And will feature music from Dundu Dole Urban African Ballet– these are just some of the wonderful aspects involved in this production.
The Studio has scheduled a three week run for VOODOO MACBETH. Admission on Opening Night is $50, and these funds will benefit their educational outreach initiatives at Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School. Please call 727-895-6620 to make a reservation!
