Sarasota Orthopedic Associates has created the “SOA Woof Pack” team of walkers to support the Southeastern Guide Dog organization. In addition, SOA is a cash sponsor to help fund the walkathon on Saturday, March 18 at Benderson Park.
Doug Badertscher, CEO of Sarasota Orthopedic Associates said, “The Southeastern Guide Dog non-profit organization provides working service dogs to sight impaired individuals and veterans suffering from PTSD. We are proud to partner with this incredible group that breeds, raises, and trains 250 Super Hero dogs each year.”
SOA held “puppy days” at each of their locations to provide awareness and accept donations. SEGD brought along Ambassador Dog “Chris” to educate SOA patients about the PTSD guide dog training program. “Chris” was named after the real life war hero portrayed in the movie “American Sniper” whose life ended tragically at the hand of another veteran. SEGD also brought Puppies-in-Training that will eventually serve as working dogs for sight impaired individuals.
Gates for the Walkathon on March 18th open at 7:30 am with festivities beginning at 8:30am. There will be a 10K run, a 5K run, and a 3k walk. Walkers are invited to bring their dogs to this family friendly event and to visit the vendor supporters. All donations go to SEGD.
