Tampa, Florida and North Syracuse, NY (March 1, 2017) – Modelithics and Sonnet® Software are pleased to announce a reseller agreement now in place for sales of the Modelithics CLR Library for Sonnet Suites™.
The Modelithics CLR Library for Sonnet Suites is a collection of RF and microwave simulation models for specific commercially available capacitor, inductor and resistor families from the most popular component vendors, such as Coilcraft, AVX, ATC, KEMET, Johanson, Knowles, Murata and many more. The models are unique measurement-based equivalent circuit models that offer advanced features such as substrate-, pad- and part value-scalability, accurately simulating parasitics based on the input parameters.
Sonnet Suites, a high-frequency electromagnetic (EM) analysis tool, provides high accuracy analysis of predominantly planar (3D planar) circuits. When designing high frequency circuits, electromagnetic simulation is critical in analyzing the EM effects of layout configurations and trace interactions. Sonnet utilizes the Shielded Domain Method of Moments technique to provide model extraction error frequently on the order of 1% or less. To improve the accuracy of the design even further, Modelithics CLR models can be used in place of ideal components or S-parameter models, giving designers the flexibility to quickly and easily evaluate substrate effects, adjust part value, and even vary capacitor orientation simply by changing the Modelithics Microwave Global Model™ settings. The advanced design analysis made possible by the models leads to improved first pass design success.
Founder of Sonnet, Jim Rautio, stated, “Today’s RF and microwave designers are under tremendous pressure to produce designs that work exactly right the first time power is applied. Sonnet customers have been regularly achieving that high standard for three decades for the 3-D planar passive portion of their designs. With the seamless integration of highly accurate Modelithics models into Sonnet, both the circuits and all of the components now achieve that same high standard. Together, we make a winning team.” Larry Dunleavy, President and CEO of Modelithics, agreed, “Like Sonnet’s founder Jim Rautio, I did my own PhD dissertation on computational electromagnetics and fully appreciate how accurate Sonnet’s method of moments based software is for treating a wide range of microwave structures. When it comes to surface mount components, measurement-based models are often the most accurate representation. The integration of Modelithics measurement-based substrate-scalable models in Sonnet allows designers to obtain the best of both worlds in terms of accuracy, convenience and design efficiency.”

About Modelithics, Inc.
Modelithics, Inc. (www.Modelithics.com) was formed in 2001 to address the industry-wide need for high-accuracy RF and microwave active and passive simulation models for use in Electronic Design Automation (EDA). Modelithics’ premium product is the Modelithics® COMPLETE Library, which includes the CLR Library™, containing measurement-based Microwave Global Models™ for a multitude of commercially-available passive component families, the NLD Library™ (non-linear diode models) the NLT Library™ (non-linear transistor models), and the SLC Library™ (system level component models). Modelithics’ services also address a wide range of custom RF and microwave measurement and modeling needs. Modelithics® is a registered trademark of Modelithics, Inc. Microwave Global Models™, CLR Library™, NLD Library™, NLT Library™, and the SLC Library™ are also trademarks of Modelithics, Inc. The Modelithics Vendor Partner Program allows for collaboration and open communication during the development of advanced data sets and models for commercially available microwave components and devices, with flexible sponsorship and distribution arrangements for the resulting data and models. An example of such an arrangement is the Modelithics Qorvo GaN Library, a fully sponsored library distributed for free by Modelithics under sponsorship of Qorvo®.
