Temple Terrace, FL (February 27, 2017) – Buddy Baseball, a non-competitive recreational league for special needs children ages 8 to 22, has named Barry Clements and Dennis Mueller to the executive board.
“With the growth of the league, we have expanded our executive board to seven members,” said Russ Oberbroeckling, Buddy Baseball executive director. “Each board member brings a unique perspective and the experience required to continue to deliver a quality program to so many special needs children and their families.”
Barry Clements
Executive Deputy Director of Athletics/COO, USF Department of Athletics
A core member of the USF Athletics Department since 1983, Clements brings more than 30 years of athletic administrative, operations, facilities and events experience to the Buddy Baseball league. He was instrumental in connecting USF student athletes from the baseball and softball teams to Buddy Baseball building relationships and inspiring players and buddies.
Dennis Mueller
Project Manager, Hugh MacDonald Construction
Mueller has been an active volunteer with Buddy Baseball since the inaugural season in 2009 where his son, Zachary, has been a player. He serves as the league photographer, and involved in assisting with activities on and off the field. In addition to his business and management experience, he brings to the board the perspective of a parent with a special needs child.
Buddy Baseball’s inaugural season began in October 2009 through a dedicated group of volunteers attracting 36 players and 38 buddies to form six teams. Today, Buddy Baseball averages 12 teams per season attracting 331 players and buddies from 118 different schools.
