SARASOTA, Fla. – Author Anna Schmidt will speak to the Sarasota Fiction Writers on Tuesday, March 7, at 6 p.m. at Selby Library. She will present “One Author’s Journey – and the Bumps Along the Road.”
Schmidt is the author of over 30 works of historical and contemporary fiction and a three-time finalized for the Romance Writers of America’s RITA Award, a symbol of excellence in published romantic fiction. She is also a two-time winner of the Reviewer’s Choice Award from Romantic Times magazine.
Her latest novel, “The Lawman,” is book two in her Last Chance Cowboys series. HeroesAndHeartbreakers.com chose the book as one of the six best/most unusual historical romances of 2016.
Publishers Weekly said this of her World War II novel series “The Peacemakers” – “Schmidt seamlessly integrates…actual events, and the courageous real-life individuals who fought against Hitler’s regime, with her fictional characters and their story, to produce a strong tale of hope and love in the face of insurmountable obstacles.”
Schmidt has penned several novels about Amish and Mennonite women, including a book of three stories called “The Women of Pinecraft” about the Amish and Mennonite neighborhood of Pinecraft in Sarasota.
She has also published several nonfiction books under the name Jo Horne, including “Parkinson’s Disease for Dummies.”
In addition to her career as an author, Schmidt has worked for two international companies and taught at the college level. She is a popular presenter of hands-on workshops.
