Women’s Resource Center Scholarship Applications for Sarasota-Based Nontraditional Students

Deadline is March 17!!!

 

(Sarasota County) The Women’s Resource Center invites women who are at least 21 years old and full-time residents of Sarasota County to submit an application for the 2017 WRC Sarasota scholarship. The deadline for submitting a completed scholarship application is Friday, March 17.  The scholarship application is available at the Women’s Resource Center, 340 S. Tuttle Avenue, Sarasota. It can also downloaded from the organization’s website at: http://www.thewomensresourcecenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/2017-2018-Scholarship-Application.pdf. Call (941) 366-1700 for more information.

According to Ashley Brown, president and CEO of the Women’s Resource Center, the WRC Sarasota scholarship was created to “recognize, reward, and encourage female students who are pursuing a higher level of education to reach a realistic goal in preparation for employment, self-sufficiency and advancement in the community.” She adds that the Women’s Resource Center has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in educational scholarships since the inception of the program more than 30 years ago. 

Applicants must be residents of Sarasota County, and have been out of high school for more than four years. They should hold a high school diploma or a GED equivalent, and should be pursuing an undergraduate degree or certification program at a vocational, two-year, or four-year institution. They also need to demonstrate financial need.
