Fusion HealthCare will provide personalized wellness and fitness programs for residents at the assisted living, memory care community
TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 21, 2017) — February is National Heart Health month and to celebrate, a local assisted living and memory care community, The Watermark at Trinity, is helping residents to get up and get active. The community, which is located in Trinity’s Foxwood Common Parks, recently partnered with Fusion HealthCare to provide wellness and fitness programs in its Vitality Wellness Center, including fitness classes three days a week.
Fusion HealthCare is a Medicare-certified home health and rehabilitation provider licensed in 27 counties on the west coast of Florida. The company will operate out of The Watermark at Trinity’s existing wellness center and provide residents with wellness and fitness programs, outpatient therapy, behavioral health, and home health.
“Whether you are 18 or 80, having a healthy heart is important to leading an active and healthy life,” said Donna Ackerly, vice president of client services at Fusion HealthCare. “We’re thrilled to be working with such a vibrant group of residents to help them achieve their health goals and stay heart healthy.”
To maintain a healthy heart, Fusion HealthCare recommends individuals:
1. Get active. Getting at least 30-minutes of moderate physical activity every day will lower your risk for heart disease, stroke and diabetes and will almost guarantee a healthier more satisfying life.
2. Eat a healthy diet. Foods such as vegetables, fruits, fiber-rich whole grains and lean meats fuel our bodies to make new cells and create the energy we need to fight disease.
3. Maintain a healthy weight. A high percentage of body fat – particularly around your waist – can increase your risk of heart disease and diabetes. If you’re overweight, dropping even 10 pounds can dramatically reduce your blood pressure and your risk of heart disease.
4. Stay informed. There are a number of factors that increase the risk of heart attack and stroke, including cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure. It’s important to stay informed about your risks and have regular check ups with your physician. Doing so could save your life.
“Our partnership with Fusion HealthCare is just one of the many ways that we help residents live an active and healthy lifestyle,” said Aileen Carlson, executive director of The Watermark at Trinity. “From classes and programs to extraordinary outings, there is always something on the calendar to stimulate the mind and strengthen the body.”
In honor of Heart Health month, the community will be hosting a Heart Healthy seminar on February 23 from 10:30 am – 11:30 am with Dr. Rias Ali from Holiday Heart & Vascular. Dr. Ali will discuss various cardiology-related topics including diet and exercise, blood pressure, and the symptoms of a heart attack in both men and women.
