VENICE, Fla. — Venice-based commercial construction company, J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp. (JECharlotte.com), was the presenting sponsor of the Florida Gulf Coast University’s Challenge Cup Scramble on Jan. 28.
Benefiting Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) athletics to raise scholarship funds for student athletes, the tournament netted $10,000. Eighteen foursomes participated in the golf tournament, which paired each group with a male or female FGCU golf team player. The teams competed against each other for prizes and awards given out at the luncheon following the scramble.
Charlotte joined the FGCU Athletics Eagle Club board as the chair of the Sarasota Advisory Committee in November 2013. He and his wife, Virginia Charlotte, have two daughters who attended FGCU. The intent of the committee is to advance the cause of FGCU Athletics by creating access to the programs, its coaches, staff and student athletes for its most dedicated supporters.
The FGCU Eagles are part of the A-Sun Conference with six men’s and nine women’s Division I intercollegiate programs.
