(Tampa, Fla.) – Following a thorough search, the Board of Directors of Friends of the Riverwalk is pleased to welcome Jason Carroll as its Executive Director.
Prior to his new position, Carroll served as a Regional Account Executive with Visit Tampa Bay, where he traveled extensively to promote the area as a tourism destination. Carroll has also worked with The Florida Aquarium, where he rose in the ranks from an Events Coordinator to Sales Manager to Director of Sales and Events.
“We’re extremely excited to bring Jason on board,” said Troy Manthey, Chairman of the Board of Friends of the Riverwalk. “We had many exceptional candidates, but Jason stood out because of his high energy and his strong background in fundraising and sponsorship. We believe he will further activate Tampa’s Riverwalk to even greater heights.”
Carroll is a graduate of Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has earned the Certified Meeting Professional designation (CMP) and is beginning a three-year term as a board member of Meeting Professional International. Carroll is also a graduate of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce’s coveted Leadership Tampa program.
“Tampa’s Riverwalk is a tremendous asset to our region, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of its ongoing success,” added Carroll. “I’ve admired the mission of the Friends of the Riverwalk for many years, and I’m looking forward to working closely with this Board, the City of Tampa, the Downtown Partnership and the community as a whole.”
Since 2013, Friends of the Riverwalk has shared an executive director with Tampa’s Downtown Partnership. However, the popularity and growth of Tampa’s Riverwalk, combined with the revitalization of Tampa’s downtown, now requires each organization to have a dedicated full-time employee.
Carroll began his duties on February 6, 2017.
