SARASOTA COUNTY – The community is invited to come “Chalk the Park” on March 5 at Nathan Benderson Park.
Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources will host this free, family-friendly event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The festivities will include a chalk drawing competition that is open to the public, plus face painting and opportunities to learn to paddle, row or stand-up paddleboard.
There will also be free refreshments, plus visits and demonstrations from the Sarasota County Fire Department, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Patrol, Strider BMX bikes and Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue.
Registration for the chalk competition begins at 10 a.m. Judging and awards will take place from 2:15 to 3 p.m., with trophies for the winners and gift bags for participants.
Chalk in the Park will be held on the park’s Regatta Island, 5851 Nathan Benderson Circle, Sarasota.
Nathan Benderson Park will host the 2017 World Rowing Championships this fall.
