The University of South Florida Alumni Association is now accepting nominations for the 2017 USF Alumni Awards. Nominations can be submitted online at www.usfalumni.org/awards through Friday, April 14.
Recipients of these prestigious awards will be recognized in the fall at the annual Alumni Awards Dinner and during USF’s Homecoming Week festivities. The three awards categories are:
Distinguished Alumnus Award – recognizes a USF alumnus who has reached the pinnacle of success in his or her career or profession.
Donald A. Gifford Alumni Service Award – recognizes an alumnus who has provided unparalleled service to USF and the community through efforts such as committee work, volunteer hours or other means.
Class of `56 Award – recognizes an individual who did not graduate from USF, but has proven to be a friend of the university by rendering distinguished service over an extended period of time.
Notable past award recipients have included former Tampa mayor and current president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Pam Iorio; restaurateur Richard Gonzmart; NBC News correspondent Kerry Sanders; the late New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner; FedEx CIO and executive vice president Robert Carter, and civic leader and retired CPA Jose Valiente.
