Tampa, Fla., Jan. 24, 2017 – Trenam Law is pleased to announce that its shareholder Lara Roeske Fernandez has been appointed to the board of directors for the American Board of Certification (ABC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the public by improving the quality of the bankruptcy and creditors’ rights law. Fernandez joins many of the nation’s top bankruptcy and creditors’ rights professionals to help lead the organization, which offers specialist certification for attorneys who have met the its rigorous standards of excellence in business bankruptcy, consumer bankruptcy and creditors’ rights law. ABC is sponsored by the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Commercial Law League of America.
Fernandez, a Florida Bar board certified attorney in business bankruptcy, is the leader of Trenam’s Bankruptcy, Creditors’ Rights & Insolvency Practice Group. She serves clients involved in business reorganizations (debtor and creditor representation), bankruptcy litigation, commercial foreclosures and workouts, and loan modifications. She also represents trustees. Additionally, Fernandez has served as a Chapter 11 trustee and liquidation trustee.
Evidenced by this leadership appointment, Fernandez has also earned other peer recognitions in the area of bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, including recognition from Chambers USA and Florida Super Lawyers, in which she earned a spot among the state’s Top 50 Women in 2016.

Fernandez is a member of the divisional advisory board of directors as Synovous Bank. She serves on the Local Rules Lawyers Advisory Committee for the United States Bankruptcy Court, Middle District of Florida. She is a member of the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation, The Florida Bar Business Law Section and Hillsborough County Bar Association.
Fernandez earned both her undergraduate and law degrees from Emory University.
