Tampa, Fla. – The Patel Conservatory at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts will present The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, Jr. in TECO Theater on February 16-19.
Based on the popular children’s book series by Jeff Brown, this entertaining musical is performed by Patel Conservatory students in grades two through four who will depict the story of Stanley Lambchop. Stanley is an ordinary 10-year-old until the bulletin board on the wall above his bed comes loose and falls on top of him. The next morning, Stanley wakes up flat. In a whirlwind musical travelogue, Stanley – the ultimate exchange student – scours the globe for a solution to his unusual problem.
Stanley is stamped, posted and cancelled from Hollywood to France to Honolulu and beyond, all in an effort to become a three-dimensional boy once more. Stanley’s journey takes him to many interesting locales filled with lots of colorful characters from across the globe.
Performances are Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 1 and 4 p.m. Regularly priced tickets to The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, Jr. start at $15 and may be purchased by calling 813.229.STAR (7827) or 800.955.1045 outside Tampa Bay, in person at the Straz Center Ticket Office or online at www.strazcenter.org.
