Hear from some experts when the Central Pinellas Chamber of Commerce presents Focus on 2017: A Tampa Bay Economic Forecast. It takes place on Wednesday, Jan. 18 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort, 1160 Gulf Blvd., Clearwater.
This annual signature event features a panel of experts who will share predictions and provide insight on significant global, national and regional issues destined to impact the Tampa Bay economy. This year’s Focus panelists of industry leaders and their topics include:

[endif]• Scott J. Brown, Ph.D., Senior Vice President, Chief Economist at Raymond James & Associates joined Raymond James Equity Research in July 1995 after two years as an economist in the firm’s Fixed Income Research Department. Prior to that, he was manager of economic research at Pacific First Bank in Seattle and had previously been director of economic research at First Imperial Advisors in San Diego. He also worked as an economist for the San Diego Gas & Electric Company. Dr. Brown earned his doctorate in economics from the University of California at San Diego, where he studied time series analysis and forecasting under Nobel Laureates Robert F. Engle and Clive W.J. Granger.

Bertini, Ph.D., Director, Center for Urban Transportation Research at USF is a research expert in sustainable transportation solutions, traffic flow theory, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), multimodal transportation, and proactive traffic management and operations. He is currently the chair of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Operations Section, overseeing 13 committees and one task force. He received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, where he developed an online multimodal transportation data repository that is a platform for performance measurement, modeling and prediction.
Political Forecast • Dr. Susan A. [endif]Affairs. This last election cycle, she was the political analyst for WFTS-TV ABC Action News, a position she previously held for many years at WFLA NewsChannel 8. Since 2008, she has been a featured columnist on sayfiereview.com—a widely-read Florida-based political website. She has appeared on every major broadcast and cable television and radio network and been interviewed by major newspapers in Florida, the U.S., and abroad. She received her M.A. from the University of Michigan and Ph.D. from Florida State University.
