Dunn Poster Reception at the 2017 Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education’s annual education conference to be held from March 9 – 12, 2017, at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Florida. About the Interpersonal Skills Training Program
Recently, Oak Hill Hospital announced that its Graduate Medical Education program
partnered with Javelin IO Solutions to help medical residents improve interpersonal skills through a cloud-based, video simulation program. Like a clinical simulation, the interpersonal skills video simulations train residents in essential skills necessary to effectively interact with patients, peers, and leaders at the hospital. It focuses on such skills as communications skills, active listening, empathy, teamwork and physician leadership.
In the pilot conducted earlier this year, results showed that after only three weeks of access to the individualized feedback and training modules, Oak Hill Hospital’s incoming medical residents improved their performance on the simulations, on average, by 25%. The poster selection by the ACGME further validates the quality of the training skills experienced by Oak Hill Hospital’s Graduate Medical Education residents.
In 2013 Oak Hill Hospital received institutional accreditation by the ACGME as well as accreditation for its internal medicine residency program. The program has been expanded to accreditation for up to 15 residents per year through its three year residency program.
