SARASOTA/BRADENTON, FL – A standout Goodwill team member was recently granted a multitude of reasons to celebrate this holiday season as her family was selected to be the beneficiary of the Adams and Reese Sarasota office’s HUGS Program. Goodwill Manasota employee Antoinette Goggins and her three children will receive items including a Christmas tree with decorations, a variety of books and toys – including a Kindle, play kitchen, learning toys, sporting goods, toddler bicycles and a scooter – bath accessories and toiletries, work clothes for Mom, bedding and room accessories, a variety of gift cards, and so much more.
Goggins joined the Goodwill Manasota Ranch Lake team earlier this year, working on the sales floor and impressing all with her positive energy and motivation. A single mother with an arrest record from seven years ago, Goggins was determined to do only her best for herself and her children. She has gone through some tough times recently, with an eviction due to erroneously high water bills, and the repossession of her car.
Even in the face of her challenges, Goggins has worked hard, become a Goodwill Certified Role Model Worker and earned a promotion. Her Goodwill GoodPartner Coach helped her to stay on track, find affordable housing, apply for housing assistance from area agencies, and receive a voucher for furniture and home goods from another agency. Today, Goggins is happy at home and prospering at work.
“I am so grateful to Goodwill and my GoodPartner Coach for helping me to plan and achieve my goals, to motivate me, and encouraging me to push forward even when I just felt like giving up,” said Goggins. “To learn that my family has been chosen to benefit from the generosity of the caring people at Adams and Reese is a dream come true – my family and I will truly have the Christmas of our dreams this year.”
This is the 28th year of the Adams and Reese HUGS community service and philanthropic program – HUGS stands for Hope, Understanding, Giving and Support and is the holiday charitable initiative through which the firm donates time, financial resources and assistance to more than 200 organizations throughout its service area.
“For the past five years, Adams and Reese has proudly partnered with Goodwill Manasota through our HUGS volunteer program to provide holiday gifts and necessities for this special family in need,” said Jason Gaskill, Adams and Reese Sarasota partner in charge. “Our Sarasota team members enjoyed shopping for gifts and seasonal surprises for our family as well as providing them with necessities many of us might take for
granted. We are grateful to Goodwill for continuing to provide us with opportunities to reach out into our community and help very deserving families have a truly memorable holiday season.”
The items will be delivered to Goggins and her family by Goodwill Manasota vice president Veronica Brandon Miller and her husband, Jeremy, on Christmas Eve.
“We are thrilled by the generosity of Adams and Reese LLP, which will help to make this the best Christmas ever for Antoinette and her children. Adams and Reese is a model of corporate social responsibility, always looking for ways that they can give back to the community,” said Miller. “Even for those who are working, Christmas can be a stressful time for many families. We can’t thank the generous team at Adams and Reese enough for reaching out to touch the lives of those in need in our community.”
For its ongoing generosity and partnership, Goodwill honored Adams and Reese LLP as the “Company of the Year” during its 2016 Ambassador Recognition Luncheon.
