During the month of November the Moffitt Cancer Center was the featured non-profit organization at the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office. The Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office teamed up with the Moffitt Cancer Center to raise funds and heighten awareness of the many cancers that exist and to help fund research that will, one day, put an end to this dreaded disease.
“Moffitt Cancer Center is grateful for the immense support of the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Offices and teams members who not only worked diligently to reach our target, but also for the generous cash donation,” said Dr. Thomas Sellers, Director of the Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute. “Thank you for your commitment to the life-saving research we do at Moffitt.”
Moffitt is dedicated to one lifesaving mission: to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer. The Tampa-based facility is the No. 6 cancer hospital in the nation and has been listed in U.S. News & World Report as one of the “Best Hospitals” for cancer care since 1999. The Moffitt Cancer Center specialty tag is one of the newest tags to be created by the Florida Legislature. Part of the campaign was to help Moffitt reach its goal of a state-mandated 1,000 tags sold, which ensures that the plate will continue to be available for purchase. That goal was met through the sale of 48 new tags by generous and supportive drivers in Pasco. All totaled, $5,549.64 in cash donations and plate sales were made during the November campaign.
“It was exciting for the Pasco Tax Collector’s Office to team up with Moffitt Cancer Center and help them reach their specialty tag sales goal,” states Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “Whether by reputation or experience, most people know of Moffitt Cancer Center. It was our first opportunity as an organization to team up with Moffitt and it was very successful. Please accept the thanks of a grateful office for the support of so many people in our community. Whether they purchased a plate or made a cash donation, they all assisted in helping advance the good work of one of the most respected research facilities not only in our state but in the nation as well.”
