St. Petersburg, Fla. – Margaret Lindsay, senior living resident at Renaissance, recently discovered that dreams can come true at any age. As part of the community’s newly-established Dream Catcher Program, Lindsay was the first resident at Renaissance to have a dream granted. Lindsay submitted a simple dream that was close to her heart. As a lover of art, she submitted a dream to visit the Chihuly Collection presented by the Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg, Florida.
On Nov. 10, 2016, Lindsay and her son traveled to the Morean Arts Center and viewed the Chihuly Collection. The Chihuly Collection is a stunning, permanent collection of world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly’s artwork. Lindsay experienced a private walk through with Andy Schlauch, Executive Director of the Chihuly Collection, and took part in her own glass blowing session. The day was followed by dinner at FarmTable Kitchen, a local St. Petersburg restaurant.
Renaissance captured this dream on video which can be viewed here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9aC4OR7n4I&t=26shttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9aC4OR7n4I&t=26s
“There is always tomorrow so I try to look forward while enjoying the best I can today,” says Lindsay. “I am so grateful to Renaissance for providing all of this. This will be a red-letter day on my calendar.”
Renaissance’s Dream Catcher Program was created to encourage residents to set dreams and goals for themselves. Residents are urged to submit a dream centered on an experience rather than a material item. Jennifer Butler, Executive Director of Renaissance, made it a priority to implement the Dream Catcher Program soon after joining the Renaissance team.
“Many of our residents have done so much for others in their lives that it’s time for them to prioritize dreams they have for themselves,” says Butler. “If we can make just one of these dreams a reality, then this program has been successful.”
Renaissance has plans to continue granting dreams. This is the first of many dreams to come and residents of Renaissance have plenty of imagination and ambition to keep the pipeline full of dreams.
