Sun City Center resident Joel Bakole Kalamba, a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo who emigrated to Canada to pursue both a bachelor’s degree in statistics and a master’s degree in economics and then went on to gain extensive experience working for one of Canada’s largest banks, will serve as managing director of IKOR of Hillsborough County South. He says he knows first-hand the challenges and strife faced by those responsible for a loved one’s care, as he relocated to Florida to care for his own ailing mother, who suffers from a chronic illness.
“Caring for my mother through her illness has made it all too clear for me how complex the responsibility is and yet how important every decision and action is in the quality of life of someone needing care,” he says. “But I’ve also realized there is a severe lack of support out there, especially for seniors in my area. I want to make a significant impact on the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities and special needs, as well as those who care for them, helping them all achieve fulfillment and peace of mind knowing that they’re in good hands.”
Joel Bakole Kalamba is a certified senior advisor (CSA) and is fluent in English, French and Lingala. His staff includes Barbara Caleca, a Registered Nurse who has spent nearly 15 years focusing on patient safety and quality improvement for Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and Progress West Health Care Center in St. Charles, MO. Barbara will serve as the office’s Registered Nurse Advocate.
