The Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) District Board of Trustees, on Tuesday, November 15, voted unanimously to prohibit smoking and the use of tobacco products collegewide, effective Monday, August 14, 2017.
“PHSC joins many other Florida College System institutions as well as other private and public universities in Florida that have already instituted similar policies,” said Timothy L. Beard, Ph.D., PHSC president.
In the coming months, an ad hoc committee that includes representation from students, faculty, staff and administrators will assist in transitioning PHSC to a smoke-free/tobacco-free environment. During and after the transition, faculty, staff and students at all campuses will have opportunities to attend free smoking cessation programs. Also, community-based smoking cessation programs, and other resources to assist employees and students interested in giving up tobacco products will be available.
Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) serves the educational needs and interests of its community by awarding certificates, diplomas, associate and baccalaureate degrees.
