A benefit for a St. Petersburg child fighting a rare form of cancer, “For the Love of Julia” is scheduled for Sunday December 11, 2016 from 10am-12pm at the St. Petersburg Opera Company, 2145 1st Avenue South in St. Petersburg. The event is hosted by Music & Me will feature a concert by Uncle Gerry concert with Music & Me, a live and silent auction, face painting, crafts, photos and refreshments.
Julia Cox, 3, was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma in March of 2016 and is currently being treated at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital (JHACH) in St. Petersburg. Neuroblastoma is an aggressive tumor based form of cancer that starts adrenal gland in the nerve cells found in an embryo or fetus. This type of cancer occurs most often in infants and young children. Neuroblastoma accounts for about 6% of all cancers in children. There are about 700 new cases of neuroblastoma each year in the United States.
