7th Annual Siesta Key Crystal Classic International Sand Sculpting Festival Nov. 11-15, 2016
Sarasota, FL, November 7, 2016 – This Friday, November 11th, Veteran’s Day, marks the kick off of the 7th annual Siesta Key Crystal Classic. Our welcome sculpture will honor our veterans.
The master sculptors, coming to us from all over the world, will create sand masterpieces, some over ten feet tall, and transform the always beautiful Siesta Beach into an outdoor art gallery. These renowned artists will produce spectacular, ephemeral works of art from just sand and water.
And it’s more than just sand…the festival also features live music all weekend, a large shopping village, and a variety of food and drink vendors. Other activities include the “Quick Sand” speed sculpting competition, sand sculpting lessons & demos, an amateur competition, and new this year – The Learning Curve – an educational and fun activity area for kids.
Festival organizers in partnership with Sarasota County Parks and Recreation have also announced that the Siesta Key Crystal Classic will have ADA Accessibility in place this year. A Beach Access Mat will be available for maneuverability to the sand sculpture garden during all five days of the festival for easier access.
Tuesday, November 15, is still the best day to use the access. See the attached map for an overview of the mat location.
Eight beach wheelchairs will be available for use through the concessionaire stand located along the esplanade. Check out is on a first come, first served basis without a time limit. Directional signage for the location of the beach wheelchairs will be placed in the park.
The Beach Access Mat will be available for beach and personal wheelchairs. The mat will allow viewing of the sculptures from a short distance within the sculpture garden. The entrance to the mat is at the sidewalk near the beach wheelchairs. Festival volunteers and signage will be posted to guide those in wheelchairs to the location of the mat.
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 65+ and military personnel, $5 for children 5-17 and under 5 is free. Cash only at the VIP/wheelchair entrance and cash & credit card accepted at main entrance.
