SARASOTA/BRADENTON, FL – As leaders in employment for job seekers, Goodwill Manasota and CareerSource Suncoast are partnering to hold a series of job fairs for one of the largest employers in the area. PGT Industries, the local hurricane-resistant window and door maker, is experiencing tremendous growth – with such growth comes the need for skilled labor.
In September of 2016, PGT announced the establishment of a new subsidiary and the purchase of an established fabricator of storefront window and door products. The recent acquisitions support PGT’s expansion into the commercial market, adding capabilities such as fabricating and glazing window and door frames for commercial products. Located in Venice, PGT currently employs approximately 1,900 individuals, making the company the largest employer in Sarasota County.
Goodwill Manasota’s Job Connection program and CareerSource Suncoast are offering the job fair for the mutual benefit of clients seeking employment and PGT, which is in need of qualified hires. On Saturday, November 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the first of the hiring events will be held at the Cultural Center of Charlotte County (2280 Aaron St., Port Charlotte). Future events are planned for the first quarter of 2017 at PGT Industries in Venice, second quarter 2017 in North Port, and then again in Port Charlotte in the third quarter of 2017.
“CareerSource Suncoast and Goodwill Manasota have been amazing partners in the collaborative effort to help PGT meet its ever-growing business needs and provide quality career opportunities for local families,” said Brian Lingle, human resources director for PGT Industries. “The upcoming job fair is another example of this partnership and our combined efforts to provide great jobs for area workers.”
PGT is seeking manufacturing assembly workers, loading techs, maintenance mechanics, production group leaders, HR generalists, and more. Job seekers are encouraged to complete an online application at pgtindustries.com/about/careers, to register and add their resume to employflorida.com, and to bring their resume to the job fair because pre-screen interviews will be conducted on-site during the event. Job seekers are also encouraged to visit Goodwill’s North Port Job Connection office prior to the hiring event for assistance with resume development and interview skills.
“Our mission is to change lives through the power of work. We understand the impact that jobs have on our local economy. When someone finds a job, they are taking a step on the path to financial security,” said Bob Rosinsky, president and CEO of Goodwill Manasota. “When you donate to Goodwill or shop at your local store, you directly impact our ability to put people to work. Our partnership with PGT and CareerSource Suncoast is a shining example of how – together – we are strengthening our community as a whole.”
