Tampa, Fla. – The Straz Center for the Performing Arts’ Patel Conservatory will present Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka, Jr. Nov. 3-6 in the TECO Theater.
The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory will light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale, performed by Patel Conservatory students in grades two through eight.
The show follows the enigmatic candy manufacturer, Willy Wonka, as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his candy bars. Whoever finds these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka chocolate factory and a lifetime supply of candy. The winning children must learn to follow Wonka’s rules during the tour – or suffer the consequences. Along the way, valuable character lessons are learned by all.
Featuring the memorable and enchanting songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder, such as “Pure Imagination,” “Oompa Loompa” and “The Candy Man,” in addition to a host of fun new songs, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr. is a scrumdidilyumptious family musical guaranteed to delight everyone’s sweet tooth.
