TAMPA — The DiversityFIRST™ Certification Program, which prepares business professionals to create and implement highly successful diversity and inclusion strategies, will be held at The University of Tampa on Dec. 5–9.
The program, sponsored by the National Diversity Council in partnership with The University of Tampa and Sodexo, is currently open for registration.
With a highly qualified team of facilitators, the DiversityFIRST™ Certification Program blends theory and practice during the five-day intensive program teaching the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Topics such as measurement and accountability, inclusive leadership and cultural competence equip participants with the knowledge required to implement effective diversity initiatives within their own organizations.
After successfully completing the course, group project and exam, participants are recognized as National Diversity Council Certified Diversity Professionals (NDCCDP).
Registration for the DiversityFIRST™ Certification Program in Florida is ongoing and can be completed at http://floridadiversitycouncil.org/what-we-do/events-programs/certification-program/2016-florida-diversityfirst-certification-program/.
“I look forward to partnering with the National Diversity Council to host the DiversityFIRST™ Certification Program at The University of Tampa,” said Stephanie Russell Krebs, UT dean of students, and also a guest speaker. “Hosting this program is congruent with our institutional values and, as a university, we are committed to fostering diverse and inclusive learning environments so our students can thrive.”
Dennis Kennedy, founder and chairman of the National Diversity Council, said the launch of the certification program last year was an overwhelming success, bringing various business professionals and academics together to share diversity best practices, collaborate in group projects and discuss the importance of inclusive leadership in the 21st century. “This year, we are thrilled to partner with The University of Tampa and Sodexo to build on this success and offer our program in Florida,” he said.
