Spring Hill, Florida (October 12, 2016) – Teams are now forming for the Great Hernando Weight Loss Challenge, which will begin on Saturday, January 14, and run for 10 weeks through Saturday, March 25, 2017. All of Hernando County is invited to join as we each commit to losing 10 pounds within that 10 week period.
The Great Hernando Weight Loss Challenge is one of the strategies of the CHIPP (Community Health Improvement Plan Partnership) organization and a key finding from recent community health assessments. The goal is to generate significant community engagement in a program designed to focus on healthier weights for the members of our community. The cost for an individual to participate is $10. Teams can be formed among friends, companies, department coworkers, and fitness studios, various clubs and activities throughout the county.

The Great Hernando Weight Loss Challenge is planned as a fun event for everyone. There will be prizes:
• The team with the most creative name wins a prize.
• The team that loses the most weight wins a prize for each member.
• The individual who loses the most weight wins a prize and a crown or trophy.
The kick off weigh-in will be held at the Brooksville Quarry and a final celebration party will be held at Anderson Snow Park pavilion. Teams will start forming during the periods of November 1, 2016 through January 14, 2017.
