All technologists, business owners, educators, and local government representatives will gain tremendous insight on the topic!
“Demand” of the Digital Disruption:
Today, we live in the Age of Disruption. By disruption, we specifically refer to market, technological, and consumer forces that have ushered in a highly disruptive business landscape. These days, change is the only constant. Admittedly, change has always been around; however, the rate of change has increased exponentially with regard to its breadth and depth. The ubiquity of computing power (e.g. mobile devices) has given rise to the Voice of the Customer (VoC). These days, consumers want to be engaged in offline and online channels 24/7.
In order to survive and succeed in the Digital Economy, organizations must think “Digital first!” To a large extent, this means businesses must re-invent themselves. The old way of doing business is no longer enough. Advancements in technology and changes in consumer behavior require different thinking, behaviors, and business models.
Questions to ask yourself:
“Supply” of the Digital Innovation Economy:
UF worked closely with the local public, private, and philanthropic communities to launch UF Innovation Station Sarasota County to support the region’s developing innovation economy. The Innovation Station can support the growth of the Innovation Economy in Sarasota County and the surrounding region and specifically how the talent and technology pipeline can be engaged to serve the region’s business community and citizens. There are various opportunities, means, and challenges of engaging university talent and technology to serve the community. This topic was covered in a recent article by Sarasota Herald Tribune at this website: http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20160318/news/160319645.
