SARASOTA, Fla. – Halfacre Construction Company (HalfacreConstruction.com), the area’s oldest, most established, locally owned and operated private commercial construction company, wrapped up the improvements for the west phase of Myrtle Street ahead of schedule.
Halfacre Construction Company acted as the construction manager for the $1.2-million project. The west phase improvements began in early April 2016 and were completed a week ahead of schedule.
The construction took place within Sarasota city limits eastbound on Myrtle Street from the west side of Carolina Avenue to Old Bradenton Road and from the east side of Old Bradenton Road to the train tracks.
Funded and approved by Sarasota County, the updates included milling and resurfacing the south side of the corridor, improving pedestrian lighting and installing a sidewalk and a new pedestrian bridge over Whitaker Bayou. A lane closure was needed in order to widen the road and perform the needed bridgework.
The dates for additional planned improvements have yet to be determined.
