SARASOTA, Fla. (Sept. 16, 2016) Longtime USF Sarasota-Manatee supporter Dr. Anila Jain has accepted an appointment to the Campus Board.
A physician and medical consultant with more than 30 years of service to the campus, Dr. Jain was appointed to the five-member board by USFSM Regional Chancellor Dr. Sandra Stone.
USF System President Dr. Judy Genshaft and the USF Board of Trustees confirmed Dr. Jain’s appointment this month. The Campus Board functions as USFSM’s governing body. Members serve single four-year terms but can be reappointed once by the trustees.
“I am honored to serve on the USFSM Campus Board,” Dr. Jain said. “I am a USF Tampa graduate, but the Manatee-Sarasota area has been my hometown for more than 50 years, and it’s important to support your hometown campus.”
Dr. Jain has been supporting the campus since the early 1980s when it shared space with New College of Florida. She served as president of the Alumni Association in 1984 and was a founding member of the Brunch on the Bay organizing committee in 1992.
She also served on the Academic Affairs Council – a predecessor to today’s Community Leadership Council – and recently co-chaired committees for the Brunch on the Bay and 40th Anniversary Gala.
Notably, Dr. Jain is a recipient of the USFSM President’s Distinguished Alumni Award and currently serves on the Distinguished Alumni Awards committee and executive committee for USF Women in Leadership & Philanthropy.
Additionally, she has established many scholarships and endowments over the years. She replaces Rick Smith, whose term on the campus board had concluded.
