Sarasota, FL (September 15) – William Hoegel, a thirty-six year Sarasota resident, has been named Nathan Benderson Park’s Volunteer of the Year for 2016 according to Bob Sullivan, president and CEO of the Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates, Inc. (SANCA) This announcement not only recognizes Bill’s service and commitment to the organization, it helps to launch NBP’s Volunteer of the Month program, created to support the community and encourage volunteerism at the park for the upcoming event season.
Hoegel, originally from Pittsburgh, has been a volunteer at the park since 2009. His favorite aspect of the park is its accessibility to the community and the economic impact it has to the entire region. When asked what he enjoys most about volunteering, he admitted he liked being part of something that allows him to give back to the community. Furthermore, he noted, that most people don’t realize how important volunteers are to the success of all the great events at venues like NBP, and he encourages more people to sign up and spend time at NBP.
“Our volunteers are extremely dedicated and instrumental in making the events successful at NBP,” said Sullivan. “Bill is one of our original volunteers and he has helped us time and time again with event set-up, parking or various tasks needed. We could not succeed without people like Bill and that’s why each month we have decided to recognize individuals for their loyalty and hard work. The monthly decision will be based on a set of criteria we have established.”
SANCA’s volunteer program provides a wide range of opportunities for residents looking to make a difference in the local community. Between the roster of regional, national and international events and local community events, there is plenty of work and something to fit all interest levels and schedules.
