(Sarasota, FL) If you need a good excuse to go shopping with friends while enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, the Designing Women Boutique has you covered. Sarasota’s favorite upscale consignment boutique will host a board-sponsored event on September 20th from 5 to 9 p.m. as part of the 2016 Giving Challenge, sponsored by The Community Foundation of Sarasota County. The evening will include a style show with former recipients of DWB grants acting as models. There will be specials on select merchandise and complimentary refreshments. Patrons will have the opportunity to donate to DWB with computers set up throughout the store for easy online giving. All gifts are 100% tax deductible.
For those so inclined, Giving Day is a wonderful opportunity to make charitable donations because of the generous matching funds provided by The Patterson Foundation. In order to qualify for matching dollars, gifts must be a minimum of $25. Donations up to $100 from new givers will be matched on a 2:1 basis, while gifts up to $100 from previous supporters of Giving Day will be matched 1:1. The Giving Day is a 24-hour event that supports more than 450 nonprofits serving Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and DeSoto counties. Since its inception in 2012, Giving Day has generated more than $15 million for local nonprofits, with last year’s event setting a record of over $7 million.
The 2016 Giving Challenge is presented by The Community Foundation of Sarasota County with giving strengthened by The Patterson Foundation, as well as support from the Manatee Community Foundation, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, William G. and Marie Selby Foundation, and the Herald-Tribune Media Group.
