TAMPA, Fla., Wednesday, September 7, 2016 – Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay (RTTB) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Saturday, September 10, in historic Sulphur Springs as part of its Building a Healthier Sulphur Springs program. Distinguished guests and speakers, including Mayor Bob Buckhorn and RTTB Board President Carol Austin, will provide remarks and be on hand for the comprehensive community revitalization kick-off event.
“We’re so pleased leaders within the Tampa Bay area understand the importance of the Sulphur Springs Revitalization project and its lasting impact on this great community,” said RTTB Executive Director, Jose Garcia. “Saturday’s groundbreaking ceremony will be a great way to commemorate this historic moment and further improve the community and quality of life for so many of the deserving residents.”
The Sulphur Springs Revitalization project is a multi-faceted project which includes the construction of new affordable energy star rated homes, home repairs and modifications at no cost to the existing homeowners, home maintenance education classes, home gardening and landscaping, and more.
Building a Healthier Sulphur Springs benefits several sectors of the population, including low-to-moderate income buyers, who will be able to acquire affordable homes in the neighborhood, present residents, who will be living in a healthier, safer and more energy efficient environment, and the neighborhood overall, by making it more attractive and livable. This project is designed to spark economic development activities, including the expansion of businesses within the Nebraska Ave. corridor, which will create additional job opportunities for local residents.
