TAMPA, Fla. (Sept. 9, 2016) — Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) Florida is proud to announce Suzanne Kijewski, medical research and intellectual properties coordinator at Shriners Hospitals for Children, as the chapter’s volunteer of the quarter.
Since October 2015, Kijweski has served an integral role on the HBA Florida programming committee. She has been working with members of the board to create a Women in Science (WIS) program for the chapter, and also serves as the new community ambassador to engage HBA Florida members.
Kijewski recently relocated to Tampa after having earned her PhD in microbiology and immunology at Boston University School of Medicine. Previously, she worked as the assistant vice president of intellectual properties and licensing at TransGenex Nanobiotech.
“Suzanne is a wonderful asset to our chapter,” said Camille Garnett, HBA Florida president. “She has been a fantastic volunteer and has made herself indispensable to the programming initiative in Tampa. Her willingness to help and her consistent, clear communication style are qualities that make her an exceptional volunteer. We look forward to her continued leadership.”
The HBA is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to furthering the advancement and impact of women in the business of healthcare. The organization accomplishes this through strong business networks, education, research, advocacy and recognition for individuals and companies.
“I’m honored to be recognized as the volunteer of the quarter,” said Kijewski. “The HBA has given me many opportunities to showcase my talents and network with likeminded professionals. I’m eager to assist with various important tasks related to planning HBA programs.”
HBA Florida, founded in May 2010, is dedicated to serving the needs of industry women in Florida, specifically in the Tampa Bay and South Florida regions. The chapter, fueled by the enthusiasm of its members and volunteers, focuses on providing relevant skill-based programming, networking opportunities and access to industry leaders.
