GULFPORT, FL: We survived another summer (although it’s not any cooler in September) and while other markets close for the summer, Gulfport Tuesday Fresh Market is open year round. We have fewer vendors and smaller crowds, but we’re not just a market – We are a community.
With the arrival of the fall season comes the arrival of our vendors who headed north for the summer. Soon the market will be bustling with shoppers and more booths.
The Gulfport Tuesday Fresh Market will be hosting a blood drive on Sep.13th from 1030am to 1230pm. One Blood of Pinellas County will have the Big Red Bus parked at the Gulfport Library. 38% of the U.S. population is eligible to donate, however only 5% do on a yearly basis. Please show your support and donate blood.
Also on Sep.13 is our popular Clothing Swap. “Clothing Swap” is held the second Tuesday of every month. Brought to you by the Gulfport Merchants Association, and managed by Linda Worsham, The Clothing Swap is held in the courtyard at The Historic Peninsula Inn located at 2937 Beach Blvd S from 9am-1pm.
Participants are invited to bring up to five gently used garments to exchange for vouchers that may be used to select up to five items of clothing donated by other participants. Donations of clothing above the 5-garment swap limit are accepted but must be contained in a bag or box. Large quantities beyond three bags of clothing, should be donated directly at the CASA thrift store.
Cash donations are also accepted at the Swap. All cash collected, donated clothing, and non-selected garments at the end of the swap will be donated to Community Action Stops Abuse (CASA). CASA is a local non-profit organization providing services to survivors of abuse or violence.
The Gulfport Tuesday Fresh Market is open year-round. Hours are 9am to 3pm every Tuesday (9am to 2pm from May through September). The Market is located in Gulfport’s historic Waterfront District on Beach Boulevard below 28th Avenue South which also offers a variety of independent shops, boutiques, galleries, its own beach and a large cluster of restaurants, all within easy walking distance. The Fresh Market offers visitors the opportunity for a relaxing day trip in a small town full of “Old Florida” charms. Parking in the village is free.
A current roster of weekly and occasional vendors is posted on the Fresh Market’s website at http://gulfporttuesdayfreshmarket.com or visit the Market’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/gulfportfreshmarket.
