Su Byron, president of Su Byron Enterprises, a marketing and public relations firm based in Sarasota, has joined the Board of Directors and has been appointed Director of Media Relations for the Central West Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (CWCFPRA). Byron will oversee all internal and external communications for the 50-year old organization, which supports hundreds of public relations professionals throughout Sarasota, Manatee, and DeSoto counties. Byron has been promoting arts groups and cultural organizations for 20+ years on the Suncoast and throughout the Southwest Florida region; she is also a columnist for the Sarasota Herald Tribune STYLE magazine, and is a contributing editor and columnist for Venice Magazine and Sarasota Magazine.
As a publicist, and as a volunteer, Byron has, at one time or another, championed nearly every arts organization in Sarasota. Her client list includes: Embracing Our Differences, Sarasota Concert Association, Artists Series Concerts of Sarasota, The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee, Gloria Musicae, Art Center Sarasota, Allyn Gallup Contemporary Art, Sarasota Craft Show, and WUSF Public Media. Byron’s commitment to the arts and culture of Southwest Florida extends well beyond public relation; she is a travel and food writer, a published poet, and was co-publisher of the long-running Sarasota Arts Review, a monthly magazine published for 12 years through the mid-1990s.
The Central West Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association was founded in 1966, and meets monthly for luncheons, professional development, and networking opportunities. The chapter also provides a frequently updated online job bank for those seeking employment opportunities. Membership guidelines and more information are available at cwcfpra.com.
