OSPREY, FL (August 26, 2016) Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast was awarded renewed accreditation by the national Land Trust Accreditation Commission. Achieving accreditation is a mark of distinction in the land trust arena. It signifies that a land trust meets national standards of excellence, upholds the public’s trust and ensures conservation efforts that are permanent.
“Continuing to achieve accreditation is significant. Accreditation status assures our donors, landowners and elected officials that our work adheres to the highest standards for land conservation work and for the management of a land trust,” notes Eileen Scudder-Zimmermann, board chair of Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast. “It’s worthy to note that our renewed accreditation was granted without any recommendations for improvement. This is a rare accomplishment that we are both gratified and honored to have achieved.”
The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, based in Saratoga Springs, New York, inspires excellence, promotes public trust and ensures permanence in the conservation of open lands by recognizing land trust organizations that meet rigorous quality standards and that strive for continuous improvement. The Commission, established in 2006 as an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, is governed by a volunteer board of diverse land conservation and nonprofit management experts from around the country.
