The Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office announces that $6,317.81 was raised at the five tax collector offices in Pasco County for the AAA’s Auto Club Group Traffic Safety Foundation during the month of June. The Foundation encourages driver safety through educational programs, vehicle inspections, car seat and bike helmet giveaways and other opportunities to promote safer roads.
“We were excited to partner with Tax Collector Mike Fasano and his staff on this important campaign to raise awareness in Pasco County of traffic safety issues,” said Michele Harris, Director of Traffic Safety Culture for the AAA’s Auto Club Group Traffic Safety Foundation. “By working together, we can provide education and training to thousands of people and help keep people safe on the roads.”
During the month of June Tax Collector Mike Fasano hosted Pasco’s “Safe Summer Campaign,” during which time motorists in the county were encouraged to drive safely through educational programs, vehicle inspections and traffic safety literature. A “Mature Drivers Defensive Driving Course” was held which was a day-long program to assist older drivers with changes in traffic laws, how to safely navigate the roadways and potentially save on auto insurance rates. Additionally, the “CarFit Program” was conducted which provided free safety checks of vehicles operated by senior citizens.
“I would like to thank the members of our community who gave so generously of their resources” Tax Collector Mike Fasano comments. “Traffic safety is an important part of our daily lives. At our offices we have the responsibility to test first time drivers, as well as issuing and reissuing driver’s licenses. We take road safety very seriously. To partner with the well-respected AAA’s Auto Club Group Traffic Safety Foundation was an honor for us. Whether it is a newly licensed teen driver entering the road for the first time, or a seasoned older driver who has a lifetime of experience behind the wheel, it is impossible to overstate the value of traffic safety. I am pleased that all contributions made through this campaign will directly fund the safety programs the Foundation has successfully run for many years.”
