Book Zurman Recognized for 20 years of commitment to Veterans’ health care in Pinellas County
On August 17th, at the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioner’s meeting, Brian Book was presented the “Thank you for Doing Business in Pinellas,” award by Commission Chairman Charlie Justice. “I’d like to recognize Brian Book for his service to our country and for founding and growing Book Zurman in Pinellas County,” said Commissioner Charlie Justice, Chairman of the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners. “Brian has a continuing passion for supporting the complex health care systems that serve our nation’s Veterans and we’re honored to have him in our community.” In May 2016, the VA awarded Book Zurman a $20.7 million 5-year integrated health standards task. Beating out two others to secure the award, the company will provide subject matter expertise, policy guidance and strategic recommendations regarding health standards implementation for VA’s IT systems. Nonstop flights from Tampa to San Francisco
The much-anticipated announcement was made July 25: nonstop air service through United from Tampa International Airport to San Francisco will begin Feb. 16, 2017. One of the most in-demand routes, the new service will help connect Tampa Bay businesses to Silicon Valley and will bring new opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
New weekly container service between Tampa and Mexico
Port Tampa Bay announced the beginning of weekly container shipping service between Tampa and the ports of Altamira and Progresso, Mexico. Linea Peninsula will provide the two to two and a half day transit service every Tuesday. Service includes refrigerated containers and can accommodate breakbulk and project cargoes. “We are delighted to welcome Linea Peninsular to Port Tampa Bay”, stated Port CEO Paul Anderson. “Linea Peninsular enjoys a well-deserved reputation as the premiere ocean carrier between Mexico and the United States, having provided reliable and quality service in this trade for over 32 years. Mexico is already one of Port Tampa Bay’s top trading partners and we see significant potential to expand our containerized business with Mexico, including for such commodities as food and beverage products, consumer goods and construction and building materials”, added Anderson.

PSTA Public Workshops Aug. 1 and 2
The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) needs your input! PSTA will hold a public workshop on Aug. 1 to discuss a downtown St. Petersburg improvement study and a proposed bus rapid transit line between St. Petersburg and the beaches.
