TAMPA, Fla. (July 20, 2016) – With real estate becoming more and more of a global business, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices is pleased to offer specialized training for agents wanting to earn the Certified International Property Specialist CIPS designation. CIPS is the only international designation recognized by the National Association of REALTORS®. Currently, there are approximately 3,000 agents worldwide who have been trained to handle the complexities of international real estate transactions.
“Today, real estate is as global as it is local,” said Dewey Mitchell, Broker/Owner, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Properties Group. “We’re proud to offer our sales executives the opportunity to earn the distinctive CIPS designation and become more educated on understanding and servicing the international buyer.”
Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices—a real estate brokerage franchise network that recently announced its plans to expand globally—offers comprehensive CIPS training that includes five full days of study covering international business in domestic markets and transactions in Europe, Asia/Pacific and the Americas. Instruction will involve transaction tools, currency and exchange rate issues, cross-cultural relationships, regional market conditions, investment performance, tax issues, and more. Classes are held at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Properties Group’s Westshore office, located at 4950 W. Kennedy Blvd., in Tampa.
“Currency issues and tax laws alone make international transactions more complex, and then there are visa laws, financing and other considerations,” said Peter Turtzo, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices’ senior vice president for International Operations. “An agent who is trained to handle these challenges can make the difference in a home sale or purchase, and ultimately, that’s an immeasurable benefit for home buyers and sellers nationwide.”
