Spring Hill, Florida (July 22, 2016) – Hernando Orthopaedic & Spinal Surgery announces that Michael W. Higgins, DO, was invited to address the Florida chapter of ACDIS (Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists) on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Oak Hill Hospital, 11375 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville, Florida 34613.
The ACDIS is the nation’s only association dedicated to the clinical documentation improvement (CDI) profession. Since its inception in 2007, ACDIS has grown to 5,000 members nationwide. ACDIS members enjoy the benefits of a membership journal, access to their peers in a CDI forum, access to helpful forms and tools, a CDI job board, and much more including quarterly membership calls and access to ACDIS radio. ACDIS provides guidance and advocates on behalf of its members and the CDI profession through its staff leadership, elected advisory board, local chapter leadership, and committees. It also hosts the certified clinical documentation specialist (CCDS) program.
In a thank you letter from “Charlie” Charrington Morell, RN, CCDS, Director of Clinical Documentation Improvement at HCA West Florida Division office, Dr. Higgins was thanked for taking the time away from his weekend to share his expertise. Michael W. Higgins, D.O. is board certified in orthopaedic surgery.
Dr. Higgins is a graduate of the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Nova Southeastern University in North Miami Beach. Dr. Higgins is a native of Florida who completed a spinal surgery Fellowship at the prestigious New York University/Hospital for Joint Diseases. Dr. Higgins completed his residency at Peninsula Hospital Consortium in New York. Prior to his residency, he served as Chief Intern at Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah, Florida.
