SoHo Capital is the newest “pARTner” of Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture & the Arts (TBBCA), a sponsorship that will support arts education, local artists, cultural events and arts organizations in the Tampa Bay area.
TBBCA is a non-profit that for over 26 years has been uniting businesses to champion arts and culture. Its programs include TBBCA Chalk Walks in three counties; Arts in Lobbies programs pairing artists with businesses that want to showcase art; TBBCA Cultural Encounter events for businesses to get to know arts and cultural organizations; and the annual TBBCA Impact Awards honoring businesses and individuals for contributions in support of arts and culture, which benefits TBBCA’s Charlie Hounchell Art Stars Scholarships program.
“SoHo Capital’s support and participation as a pARTner will have a significant impact on TBBCA, and in turn, the community,” said Susana Weymouth, TBBCA’s executive director. “We are pleased to welcome them as a Platinum Partner and are thankful for their appreciation of how ‘the arts are good for business and business is good for the arts.’”
As a Platinum Partner, SoHo Capital will be working with the TBBCA to emphasize arts and culture in the historic Armature Works building, which is planned for an early 2017 opening as part of SoHo’s project called The Heights. The facility, a 73,344-square-foot former storage and maintenance center for Tampa’s streetcars, is being repurposed to house the Heights Market, two event spaces, restaurants, a shared work space, and a rooftop social area.
“Repurposing the Armature Works building into a state-of-the-art space while keeping the historical feel makes it a perfect place to showcase the arts,” said Chas Bruck, principal of SoHo Capital. “Partnering with the TBBCA will help us integrate cultural events and a variety of artwork into the project, especially work done by local artists.”
Tampa Bay BCA “TBBCA” is a non-profit organization founded in 1989, one of 11 national “Business Committees for the Arts,” part of the pARTnership Movement and Private Sector Network of Americans for the Arts. TBBCA provides advocacy, resources and support for arts and cultural organizations, artists, and arts education, and builds awareness of arts and culture as important economic drivers in our community and essential contributors to our quality of life.
