Interior design is so much more than just the “pretty” stuff…it’s not only about producing a great product for our clients (which is important because…uh…they live there J), but it’s about building relationships. Yes, the song and dance is something to behold (and some of us are better at it than others), but, as designers, we really do want to get to know you. I mean, we do end up spending a lot of time together! As we learn about you and you learn about us, the design process becomes that much better…and that much more personal, so the end result turns into something that is (you guessed it) that much more amazing!
If this begins to sound sentimental…that’s because it is! This week we were paid the ultimate compliment…one of our clients not only relayed to us their excitement for the project (which is wonderful!), but they also expressed their gratitude for the friendship that was being developed. How amazing is that! Don’t get me wrong here…there is still a level of professionalism that is maintained, but as interior designers we are offered this unique opportunity to not only bring great design into homes literally across the planet, but to also develop lasting friendships with those we work with.
In closing (just like your essays from middle school, LOL!), It’s really great to work with people who not only value your professional opinion, but also value the relationship you build as you spend time together. So to all of you…thank you for affording us the opportunity to not only “make your acquaintance”, but to do what we do best as Interior Designers…create art that YOU live in!
