“Technology Opportunities in Government Programs (SBIR/STTR)!”

July 18, 2016 by Press Release

Suncoast Technology Forum

Open to all in the business community

A major industry-wide luncheon presentation on Technology Opportunities in Government Programs is being held on July 19, 2016, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Polo Bar and Grill, 10670 Boardwalk Loop, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202. Presented by the Suncoast Technology Forum, all in the Florida Suncoast business community are invited.

The Suncoast Technology Forum presents a dynamic presentation by Mr. Kirk Burton on government contracting! This is an industry-wide luncheon presentation on “Technology Opportunities in Government Programs (SBIR/STTR)!” and the benefits for your local Suncoast business.

The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer Research (STTR) programs are hugely successful innovation programs specifically for high-tech small businesses. These programs have helped tens of thousands of small businesses fund and develop new technologies using a phased approach. Although these programs provide almost $1 Billion annually to small firms, many people are unaware of the opportunities available through these programs and how to take advantage of them. The purpose of this presentation is to shed light on these programs and provide information that will help businesses assess how to get government funding for developing their technology.

Interesting questions to ask yourself:

  • Have you considered how the government provides funding to spur the growth of technology?
  • Does your small business qualify and what can the funding be used for?
  • Are there incentives for minority-owned businesses?

Technology R&D and program management expert, Kirk Burton, will answer these questions and more. The session will cover all aspects of the government programs as well as what business demographics they are targeting, and what are the expectations of the contracts awarded.

Highlights of the presentation will cover:

  • The basics of SBIR/STTR programs, including topics, awards, and selection.
  • Resources available to companies interested in applying for an SBIR/STTR.
  • Understanding of the three phases of SBIR/STTR supporting development and commercialization of technology solutions.
