When: Friday, July 22, 2016, 1pm-3:30pm
Where: Haley’s Cove Community Living Center at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital, 13000 Bruce B Downs Blvd, Tampa, FL 33612
Who: Haley’s Cove currently has 50+ residents (including one woman). This event honors the residents, their caretakers, and their family members. The performers volunteer their time and talents and many are veterans themselves. The Life Enrichment Center offers a variety of art classes to the ever-expanding, post-retirement age Tampa community. For this event, LEC students have decorated cinch sacks full of gifts with the veterans’ names, and cigar boxes which will be used as thank you gifts for the performers and the incredible staff at Haley’s Cove. King Corona Cigars and All American Music Productions donated the cigar boxes, and the Hernandez Law Firm sponsored the purchase of the cinch sacks. Additionally, the Life Enrichment Center is able to cover a portion of the event costs through an outreach grant from the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners.
Why: “This is an opportunity for the Life Enrichment Center and our community partners, like Grace Badillo, to celebrate Tampa’s veterans and their families,” said Maureen Murphy, Executive Director of the Life Enrichment Center. “The entertainment lineup that Grace puts together each year is phenomenal and brings such joy to the residents of Haley’s Cove. We are honored to be a part of this event.”
