Pasco-Hernando State College sophomore standouts Alana Sherman and Danielle Deterding, recently, signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for Middle Georgia State University, Macon, Ga. Sherman is a middle blocker from Eastside High School, Gainesville, Fla. and Deterding, an outside hitter from Palmetto High School, Palmetto, Fla.
These athletes helped lead the PHSC women’s volleyball team to two consecutive District P Championships and two consecutive National Tournament appearances, including an eighth place national finish in 2014 and an 11th place national finish in 2015. Sherman, second in blocks this past season with 55, posted a .294 hitting efficiency and 152 kills. Deterding lead the team this season in kills with 360, averaging 3.3 kills per set, and a .241 hitting efficiency.
“We are so proud of Alana and Danielle for earning these scholarship opportunities. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors,” said Kim Whitney, assistant athletic director/head volleyball coach.
